My Take on Trayvon Martin
I just wrote this on Facebook in response to a post of one of my old teachers. I put his post first:
No justice, No peace.
In the Trayvon Martin incident, I keep hearing this cry. But what do they mean by the word “justice”? Is justice the vigilante approach of the New Black Panther Party? Is justice the fair and equal application of law?
We have yet to receive all of the information. We react emotionally and decisively because a young, unarmed man was shot and killed by an adult. But what we must do is allow the investigation to play out. Every day more information surfaces that paints a different picture than the one we had the day before.
